Beauvoorde Castle is a lovely heritage site in Veurne, in West Flanders. The historic building underwent a thorough restoration, during which the unique wallpaper in nine rooms was completely reconstructed. A challenging process in which Albe De Coker, as the expert in custom wallpaper, worked closely with designer Margot Billiet of Atelier Billiet.

The restoration of wallpaper requires time, patience, and expertise
“In some rooms, the pattern was so damaged that I had to paint it myself from scratch,” Margot explains. That is why we opted to reconstruct the original wallpaper, just as it looked 100 years ago.”
Together with Albe De Coker, the patterns were transposed into a contemporary, digital print format. Albe De Coker has been in business since 1877. Margot thus drew on our knowledge of modern printing techniques as well as on our 150 years of experience as printers.
Gilt-edged full-service partner
Together with Margot Billiet of Atelier Billiet, we tested various substrates to find the closest possible match to the original wallpaper. We then produced several test prints to arrive at the most accurate result.
The paper was subsequently finished with gold screen printing. This traditional process is completely unique and can still not be fully replaced by digital techniques. The result is a stunning blend of traditional craftsmanship and modern production techniques.
